Well, I'm not sure if all of these songs fit the bill, but it at least starts off in the right style. This mix was put together with the tracks overlapping a bit so the last song (although it fits on a CD) didn't make it onto the track list here (since the MTC site says there are too many songs to fit). That track is New Order's "Blue Monday 1988". Oh, and the MC is none other than the esteemed Hugh Hefner.

Great mix, Joe. I really like the Cab Calloway and of course many other of my favorite artists (from Tom Jones and Mac to CCR, Stones and Bob Seger). And I think you nailed the theme right straight on the head! Oh, and Dale Hawkins to boot!

I'd go for Cab and Reefer Man alone.

I know that the Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac was the megastar version, but the line-up I love is the Peter Green Mac line-up of 1967-70. They might not have been household names in the US then, but it is an odd and wondrous fact that in 1969, Fleetwood Mac singles outsold those of The Beatles and the Stones in the UK.
