In those daysThe Comedy Store was a tiny club near Leicester Square in the West End of London and it was upstairs from a strip club. I remember meeting Rik Mayall a couple of times, and also Arthur Smith (my favourite line of his was "We were going to have a guest appearance by the impotent man but we've just heard he can't come") French and Saunders were often on the bill there as well. There was one guy called Gavin Leaky who I thought was as good as all the others, but as far as I know he was never heard of again. The Comedy Store is now in a bigger place nearby the original, and is mostly improv now.

Hello. WHat's your favorite "Young Ones" I think mine is the one when the very old stuff in the fridge comes alive, as well as the one where Ade blows up the apartment. i also treasure the guest appearance by Motorhead. I wanted to know what I had to do to get them to play Ace Of Spades in my living room. in the late 70s, a friend of mine used to do standup at the Comedy Store in London. ASlexei Sayle (the landlord) used to be the compare, and Rick Mayall, Ade Edmondson and Nigel Planer all worked on the characters they would play on "The Young Ones"
"Rik" used to come onstage dressed as he was in the show, saqying that he was a group of feminist poets.
