@better times, I sure as H hope so. I know there's not much I can do except wait this thing out and that means just letting the days accumulate and seeing how the situation plays out. In the meantime, I've forced myself to go out more, for better or for worse. Anyway, the happy and hopeful, yet somewhat uncertain, beginnings of this drama are outlined in the comments for a recent mixtape of mine (intense currents...). It's taken a turn for the worse lately. What hurts is that I was brought into this situation, did everything right, and now seem to be the one who has gotten hurt the most. I wish I had done something wrong, it would make it easier to bear. Instead I'm left with her telling me that what she feels is too intense and what she needs is more simple right now and she knows that she'll do enough regretting for the both of us later, this is what she needs to do. So basically I'm like top shelf liquor that she can't risk taking down because it's a long way up there and it might break on the way down. Anyway, that's a hint for the hurt I've been through.

Purple Mercy, you say? I think there's room on my plate for some doom metal, right next to the shoegaze and punk + leonard cohen stuff. I'm gonna look it up.

The last dream I remember is feeling an itch on my left hand, looking down to see a golf ball sized greenish bulge, from which a full grown spider burrows out. Don't know what it means. Spiders in dreams can sometimes mean good fortune. I guess I'll just focus on that. I wish I could have a dream where I get it on with Catherine-Isabelle Duport. That would be better. Haha.

I'm gonna end all positive. Things have to get better and will. Good luck with school, work, life, etc.

69 love songs is so good. and i agree..a lot of it does speak the truth. i haven't really been getting into much new music or anything. just more and more stoner metal it seems. my favorite band/discovery of the past several months has been purple mercy. they are kind of hard to find but their lp is one of the best things i've ever heard. i can't get enough of it.

i had a pretty crazy dream about making love to jason schwartzman recently, so i decided it would only make sense if i checked out his musical project, coconut records. reminds me a lot of weezer or rooney—go figure. but i'm crazy about him so whatever. hahaha.

i'm sorry to hear about your emotional rollercoaster. i understand because i've been kind of in the same boat. too much man drama. probably why that jason schwartzman dream meant as much as it did to me (it was a great escape, yanno?). i'm glad to hear you have a coffee shop nearby that makes things a little cooler for you. i need something like that. as of right now i just can't wait to get back to school. i've been doing a whole lot of nothing with my time, except working at old navy 10 hours a week, if i'm lucky. sigh. better times ahead, for both of us. i feel it.

2011 has been totally unpredictable for me. Like a movie in some ways. Emotional roller coaster. Presently on the down swing with no idea how the damn thing will end. Insomnia, daywondering, day and night wandering, but a decent coffee shop opened up a quarter mile for my house, so there's that. I think a church runs it, but it's one of the best places to get Stumptown coffee and it's close, so yeah, god bless america and shtuff.

I spent the weekend staying in and watching John Woo flicks and not sleeping much.

any new music i should know about? Since I've been so bummed out lately, I've been embracing it by listening to The Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs. I know that Stephin Merritt meant it to be all ironic and humourous and a joke about heartbreaking love songs, but I'll be damned it he didn't nail it much of the time. Maybe it only works when you're feeling shitty.

It's been weird lately. Got a lot going on mentally, I guess. Desperate for a job and feel like I've looked everywhere. I've spent the weekend at home watching Jason Schwartzman movies, I just realized. Made a few cool graphics too I suppose. I had missed doing that. Mostly a lot of daydreaming.

I went to Japan for a couple of weeks. Loved it. I also made a nearly two hour mix of Mr. Bojangles covers for a friend. That's kind of crazy. Umm..yeah, Pavement in September. And I might go to Seattle this weekend for a show (The Babies) because I need to get of Dodge. So yeah, that's it.

Well, my uncle died, but I didn't know him and did not attend the funeral. I think I'm going to use one of the phrases used in the memorial service cards for a mix tape title. Is that sick?

I've been checking out a bunch of live shows. I'm thinking of taking the train to olympia to see grass widow perform at a house show in January. I don't know a soul up there so it might be interesting.

i've been pretty sick lately. i had the flu last week, and since getting over that, i still can't stop coughing. i'm also kind of internally freaking out because i have to write a paper about my plans for grad school even though i have no plans to go to grad school...so that's fun.

Hmmm, well, I soared above the clouds before landing in New England for a couple of weeks and playing tour guide for a couple of older co-workers. It felt good to do something nice for them. I saw rehabbed raptors, marble mansions, and saw the Red Sox beat the Angels at the last at bat. And I can't forget the joy of toll booths.

I didn't do anything musically related - aside from unexpectedly discovering one of the coolest record stores in the world in Gloucester, MA called Mystery Train - and I was getting the shakes at one point before I hard-wired the ipod to my vein. All in all, a good trip.

I live in Salem, 45 miles south of Portland, so I'm not lacking for shows. Hell, here in Salem, Richard Lloyd of Television fame is playing in October at our little hole in the wall club, The Space. Stuff like that never used to happen here, so I'm thankful for that plus the venue is only a minute's walk from my house. Bonus.

Yeah, most songs were from the new album, but I was happy to hear "Stereo Sanctity" and "Shadow of a Doubt" and "Pacific Coast Highway" and "Silver Rocket", of course. Truly unforgettable.

Yo La Tengo, Richard Lloyd, Eat Skull, Finn Riggins, the Woods, and Vivian Girls all coming up pretty soon. Will have to miss the Hope Sandoval concert, sadly enough. I think I'm going through a massive music phase.

I saw a house show last Saturday where these 18 year old kids just killed it. They call themselves the Shivas.

I got to see Sonic Youth too. Air conditioning broke, but two encores ensued anyway. Death Valley 69 was magic.
