Thanks for recommending Seasick Steve - I went to his concert last night, and it was absolutely fantastic.

POh yeah. If you have any interest in White Stripes/Black Keys then I think you would enjoy him.

I just noticed that he's playing in Stockholm 21 feb. Worth seeing?
1/19/09 3:12pm
No, I've never heard anything by Seasick Steve. Sounds like something I should remedy.

Have you heard the Seasick Steve/Nick Cave Duet on seasick Steve's 2nd album?
1/18/09 4:27am
actually I would have Boatmans Call up there as well. Funny thing is, my favorite Cave song does not come from any of those albums. That would be 'Let The Bells Ring' which is the most astonishing musical tribute to someone I have ever heard.

It says something about Nick Cave's catalogue, that my favorites are almost completely different (well, it's not that I don't like those three albums...) - Boatman's Call is the one I hold a step above anything else he has done, then I suppose Let Love In along with No More Shall We Part. Tender Prey and Kicking Against the Pricks belong there too.

Don't get me wrong, I really really like the Cave album, it is up there with the Seasick Steve and the Mogwai as probably the three favorites of the year, but it would take a lot to surpass 'From Her To Eternity', 'Kicking Against The pricks' and the sublime 'Tender Prey' but I do like it a lot and I enjoyed the link to Tender Prey material.

Been busy last couple of days but I will digitise that Wray/Gordon show soon and send it to you
9/18/08 4:08pm
I have a really good live radio recording of Wray/Gordon and I will try and find it today. A lot of my older record collection is still back home in England out of reach but I know I do have that live set here.

Link Wray made some pretty wonderful recordings with Robert Gordon in the 70s

Thank you! That track was just as great as I had hoped. It was a pretty unique sound he got out of that guitar.

Yeah, regarding the 78rpm mix, I wasn't aware of many of those artists before I downloaded the tracks. That was why I sendspaced the mixtape so people could hear it if they want to

Thanks! Yeah, I don't think I can even imagine a theme I'd find more difficult. Several times I said "screw this, it's too difficult", but I guess sometimes it's a useful trait being stubborn. :D

congrats on the contest win. This was a hard one
9/1/08 1:13am
Hah! That's funny. Not something I had noticed, but maybe you're right... They're kinda similar. :)
8/30/08 4:53pm
As well as coming from one of my favorite movies, the picture of Jesus you used for your contest mix looks disturbingly like Dave Grohl!
8/28/08 11:13pm
Thanks for the nice comment on the Siren mix. I'm curious who it was you really didn't like?
8/6/08 4:19pm
Thanks for the nice words about the 'god created woman' mix. It's one of the ones I did for MTC that I actually play quite a lot. Looking forward to yours

I saw Cave in Stockholm a month ago, it was a great show. With the new album and the Grinderman project he really feels rejuvenated.
