Ladies Rock Journal (Vol. 1)
1569 points (Level 3)
Date Created: 10/5/09 3:11pm
Description: Ladies can rock out too! Compiling this mix I guess I had a subconscious thought to show ladies not only covering other songs but those made famous by a man or group of men. I was only picking tracks that I was especially interested in that moment ...
Garden Party
1386 points (Level 2)
Date Created: 6/20/09 8:22pm
Description: I made this mix a year or two ago for my mix group. I wanted to capture the feel of a summer garden party, or a lazy day in the backyard reading in the chaise or hammock. In the shade, of course.

All the men in the Buck family join the military. His grandfather served in Korea, his father and his two older brothers - Thomas and Lee. Youngest son Buck is bit more sensitive. He writes and loves to run, but is a bit on the scrawny side.

His parents at the beginning of high school deposited him at his stern but lovable grandfather's house in the Chicago suburbs. His grandfather is just learning how to live without his beloved wife of many, many years - Rosemary. His parents were stationed in Japan. They are back now and everyone is living in the house much to the consternation of Grandpa Lionel - who knows his youngest grandson isn't cut out for the military and was going to try and work it out but now that his son is back it'll be a bit harder for Lionel and Waldo to convince Mitch.

The girl of the story is Dinah Saxon, a British girl who moved to the neighborhood when Waldo was young, so they've been friends for many years. She's lived in the U.S. so long that her accent is barely there aside from when she visits her father and comes back with it again. She's a bit of a manic panic dream girl for our wayward hero.
Cabin Fever
1512 points (Level 3)
Date Created: 5/16/09 6:20pm
Description: Songs I listened to during the cold months of winter waiting desperately for the first signs of spring. Some embrace the winter weather, some want to break free of it.
The Reluctant Debutante
1782 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 1/20/09 8:46pm
Description: One night. Several musical acts. A famous ballroom that wishes to remain anonymous due to the raucous behavior of some debutantes and some physical damage to the property by some musicians long thought dead. A night to remember most definitely. You didn't R.S.V.P., how sad for you. How very sad.

A few of the debutantes and their escorts, perhaps you are familiar with the term "Urban Haute Bourgeoisie," well that describes a few of us, weren't content with the tired songs usually played at these sorts of sorties, so we hijacked the playlist and got some great bands to crash and here it is. It was so ... very.
Confessions of a Soundtrack Addict
1422 points (Level 2)
Date Created: 10/4/08 9:16pm
Description: I buy a lot of soundtracks. I love movies. I love music. Sometimes, when done right, soundtracks are mixtapes. So here are some great tracks from some movies - good and bad.
Angelic Choirs of the Mind
1454 points (Level 2)
Date Created: 9/27/08 9:59pm
Description: I heard this phrase in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous. Lester Bangs imparts this phrase unto budding rock journalist William Miller. I impart to you as the title of this mix of melodies.
Potpourri we don't have to smell ...
1851 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 9/26/08 1:10pm
Description: Just like these fake paper flowers. This mix hopes to be pretty and smell like nothing.
It's the Devil's Music!
1661 points (Level 3)
Date Created: 6/2/08 10:22am
Description: A mix I made for a mix club and thought of after watching a slew of '50s-inspired films.
The cha cha is no more ridiculous than life itself.
1983 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 3/2/08 8:37pm
Description: What makes us like or even a love a song forever? It's not an exact science, although science was never my best subject, so I don't know what to say other than it's ridiculous to over-analyze it and best just to enjoy them and share them with others.
Portrait of a Lady
2053 points (Level 5)
Date Created: 2/25/08 7:45pm
Description: A mix for ladies by a lady. Because it's a grand time to be a lady. I didn't realize that until Tina Fey told me so.
Rock N' Roll High School
2020 points (Level 5)
Date Created: 2/18/08 8:59pm
Description: I made this mix a few years ago when I was beginning to adjust to my life out of school, I'm still adjusting to it. I constantly want to purchase school supplies or read a book and write an essay about its themes. So this mix represents various aspects of a day at school.
Writers' Strike Soundtrack (The end is near ...)
1881 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 2/10/08 6:28pm
Description: As the Writers' Strike nears an end - I hope - I look back on songs and bands I learned about through placement in television shows and shows I learned to like when they used a favorite song or band. I admit some songs or bands I should have known about before they got exposure on TV shows but what can I say, I'm uncool.
Down With Love
1820 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 2/4/08 1:25pm
Description: These are some anti-love, definitely anti-Valentine's Day, songs that express my opinion on this thing called love.
It Appears I Was a Huge Fan of Billy Joel ...
2115 points (Level 5)
Date Created: 2/3/08 7:36pm
Description: So I just joined and saw this contest about what we used to listen to and I racked my brain and then decided upon searching out one of my old mixtapes. I, like I still do, started my meager CD collection a mere 9-10 years ago with the goal of keeping my collection not in alphabetical order but in chronological order and keeping a mixtape was helpful in putting a song from each album - in order, mind you - on the tape. So here it is. Enjoy!
Sentimental Junk
1876 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 1/28/08 10:24pm
Description: Isn't all pop music sentimental junk?
One Take on the Proust Questionnaire
1982 points (Level 4)
Date Created: 1/27/08 10:38pm
Description: Anyone who has every read the heavily-padded magazine Vanity Fair surely knows about the Proust questionnaire. Marcel Proust created this series of questions and answered it at various times in his life. Here are my responses if I had to answer them in song.
