These are the songs that love with "every fiber of you being," yet you hear them on rare occasions. For example, I will forever love The Beatles for helping me during the darkest time of my life because of the song, "For No One." This song helped me in way that no family member or other song could have. I love this song, but it is hard to listen to it casually. It isn't tainted, but semi-, I don't know, sacred?

May You Never by by John Martyn. Yeah, I know, obscure musician no one except me knows or cares about, but this song has been with me for more than 30 years. It is a song about true friendship, "May you never lose your temper, if you get in a bar room fight, may you never lose your woman over night. You know you're like a strong brother to me, you know that I love you true, you never talk dirty behind my back, and I know that there's those that do..." It is a simple song that I have heard so many times that I rarely have the desire or need to hear it these days. I have played it maybe once in the last year. It reminds me of people that are no longer here though, and I carry the song with me in my head and heart always.
