So, I'm not that big of a fan of The Shins since I had them drilled into my fucking face with Garden State. I secretly wanted them to fail. Fail really hard. I didn't think that they'd be able to trump their previous album.
But they did. Their new album is good. Surprisingly good. Truly.

I'm glad to see you admit this. I hated the shins after that movie and because chutes to narrow was a let down. I will now have to get this and have a listen. Thanks for the info

On a fimmaking side of things. Garden State made it to where the upper echelon of indie music is now almost 3 times as expensive to license for films.
Thanks a bunch Zach Braff.

don't you love how everyone thinks he's so indie and he's a total tv network sellout

the shins are one of the most overrated bands i've ever heard... but i will give the new album a listen, cause i respect your gangster.
as far as zach braff, actors by definition are sellouts or they live with their parents and noone has heard of them. i dont think its really a fair term to throw at them. but no, he's not indie by any means. he's just an actor with a taste for indie music and sappy films about escaping suburban life.

I've been listening to it a lot. Has it's high parts. And low. Overall, not a bad listen -- gets me through tedious XML parsing :D

Shins tickets went on sale for a show on Feb. 16 here. I bought my Animal Collective ticket for May, but I don't know whether to see The Shins too. Badly Drawn Boy plays the day after my birthday. I look forward to the new Shins album.
The first LP I purchased for my son was Oh, Inverted World. Now you know.

I hope you're not planning on see him too. He's an arrogant prick. In a concert at Sydney a while back he yelled abuse at the audience, walked off stage and disappeared for 20 minutes and also claimed that he was the best thing to come out of the UK musically. lol
