Below you will find the extracted and combined tags between coreysprague's and nerd_rock's tagboard, arranged in chronological order for your viewing pleasure.Depends what kind of metal stuff you like. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the stuff on your mix so I think our tastes sort of come from different backgrounds. A lot of the metal I listen to is more death-metal inspired.
Anyway, some cool "tech" type ones to check out if you haven't heard:
Ephel Duath - Pain Necessary to Know: weird, jazz/death metal album...
Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer: Thrashy/Grind
Theory In Practice - Colonizing The Sun: Pretty-straightforward, some interesting time-signature/poly-rhythm stuff, a lot of complicated guitar riffs/fast solos/etc, but pretty original sounding.
Cynic - Focus: Old (early 90's) era death metal band. Weird jazzy/space sort of thing going on. Production is a little odd so not everyone can get into it, but if you can, it is a pretty rewarding listen.

Hey thanks a lot. I'm hoping the metal comment I made didn't seem too elitist. To me it's just unfortunate that some newer metal, or I guess "metalcore" bands like Norma Jean, As I Lay Dying, etc... all sound the same. They follow the same song writing styles with mandatory breakdowns, then occasionally claim to be "tech" or mathematical ripping off what bands like Botch have done years earlier.
Do you have any good recommendations I can check out?
