You should definitely watch them, then! Those movies are by far the funniest I've seen. I think you'd like them. If you like Bill Murray, the Wilson brothers and Anjelica Houston, that is, they appear in most of his films. The soundtracks are also full of British bands from the 60's 70's

Oi, I've just recently gotten into The Kinks. Have you watched the new Wes Anderson picture, Darjeeling Limited? It's seriously amazing, as all Anderson's other movies are, and a fair number of Kinks songs appear in it. :)

(Omg! You got His Dark Materials on your list! Those books are the best an 8-year old can read and fall in love with... I say that because I read them when I was that age myself. The third book at age 10 though, since it wasn't released until the year of 2000. ANYWAY. Just wanted to let you know how much I love Pullman for this trilogy).
