Well, I guess friends come and friends go. So do bands and songs. I'm not exactly waiting for these songs to go, but everyone disappears, no matter who loves them. Yeah, that's a great line from Dave Eggers' What is the What, and I'm all melancholic today because I got home from Rome yesterday. I already miss everybody and I want to go back to that over-tagged city.
This mix was made before I went to Rome, and is all I listened to on the trip. That and a whole shit load of David Bowie (L). Yeah, that's right - that's all. Because I don't listen to Shakira - I dance to Shakira when I'm drunk on absinthe and we have left the bar that shows Wonder Showzen on a big screen.

And my own funeral would probably not be traditional in any form, because I'm not Christian, and I don't believe in Islam like my parents do. Would I have a funeral anyway, I wonder? Anyhow, this would be playing if I died. Unless I change my mind over the years about the songs, or some douchebag decides not to put it on. [Oh man, I would haunt the mother fucker, given the chance].
Before I die I hope that I will have found a person who can take care of my precious belongings for me the way I would. No way I'm letting my records and books and movies in the hands of a mess-head. (Sorry, [best friend], that pretty much excludes you). Or whut.
I wouldn't burn a single diary or letter or random note made on the back of a drawing. Every person I ever crushed on would be told about my feelings for them. Some one would write my story (they fucking would, too!), and if they couldn't get it published (... fuck that), they would still hand it out among my friends.
I hope I have friends before I at least die.

The 90's never meant much good to me; the fact that we were encouraged to worship the Spice Grrls and Aqua, wear tacky-as-hell Buffalos, trade Caps and Magic Cards (alright, I admit, that was kind of fun at the time) and generally not have much fun but spend all of our time feeding canaries and wishing we had garments like the Disney frickin' princesses...it scares the shit out of me.
This mix meant I had to exclude some good music from the 90's, but it also made room for good music. So.

I'm not gonna describe this one. Or... Well. I need this kind of mix in my life. That is why I made it. Er. Just a note: This lacks a serious amount of Radiohead... They're all so good, their songs, I had a difficult time choosing... SORRY. Also: I didn't know whether to go with "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" or "Asleep" (both by The Smiths, obviously), so I put both on. Plus: I am not sure how to place above-mentioned "Asleep", since I think the place of this track exactly does a lot to the whole mood of this mix tape, adding and making it so much more cryptic. If I open the mix with it, then the rest of the tape would be an after-life thing. If I, on the other hand, close it with "Asleep", the journey ends there. See? I hope you get it. Anyway I put it as the opening track this time, cause I would hate to think that's it over afterwards. And: The closer for this mix was going to be "Uyan" by Turkish band Mor Ve Ötesi. But because this particular song is part of a 27 minute long track that includes some rehearsal stuff and about 10 minutes of absolutely nothing, I couldn't fit it in the mix tape. I was only going to use the first five minutes of the track anyway (where the actual song is to be found), but I guess that's a no-go. Oh well.

Whenever I feel like pretending to be sexy. Which is SO put off. I don't really know why I bother anymore. I am a complete dork anyhow. I have as much sex appeal as a car crash involving your entire family and all your friends would have (yeah, got inspired by my liner notes, there). (Then again, what was that movie called, where they had sex near/at car crashes because it was an über turn on?). Nevertheless, this goes to all you [for real and for real only] sexy beasts out there, I wish to grow up and join you someday! But very-nice-in-general-but-not-very-sexy people are more than welcome to have a listen, since I am that kind of person myself. Kah... My dad has a clogged heart valve. He was supposed to go to surgery on Monday, when I was there, but it was postponed again. His kidney's have to be stronger, and he has new doctors so they want to make sure everything is ok. It's a little frustrating, but it's good to be safe.
Hang in there and don't be insecure. Don't do anything wacko either. If you want me to kick some ass, I will do it for you. In the meantime I will give you a hug. {{{{{BEA}}}}}

New mixes abound. I have to level with you though, I really need your help - in this latest one (unpublished), track 3 is impossible, just impossible. It's like I've made a jigsaw puzzle where the last piece needs to have four dimensions to fit. And this is what it has to sound like:
some piano, some strings
male lead (or deep female)
about 4 minutes in length
none of these artists: The Mountain Goats, Fastball, Travis, Sting, Garbage, Ivy, Air, Bjork, Lamb.
These are the tracks I've tried so far:
Ben Folds Five - The Battle of Who Could Care Less
Fisher - Breakable
Stroke 9 - City Life
The Strokes - When It Started
Of course, none of these really meet the criteria (the single most horrible consequence of having criteria). I've been considering breaking the 12 track rule and using two songs. Any suggestions?

Yes! They were here on Tuesday. Great set, great venue. Cirkus in Stockholm is really the best place you can imagine for a band like Mogwai. The acoustics are so good the music gets another dimension from the recorded songs.

It's all about current events (mainly australian) so you probably wouldn't understand a lot of the jokes. You should take a look at more CNNNN stuff though if you liked that because it's really fuckin funny. Fun for all the family.

No, I still don't have my license because I have bad eyesight and I had to get glasses. Which really sucks because I don't have insurance so they cost a ton. The DMV is supposed to be the place where you get licensed to drive, register your car so you can drive it legally, etc... but it turns out that it's really a hole of incompetence where you have to wait for 4 hours to get anything done! It's a commodity that we Americans resent but have to live with. It's really not fun.

Hej! How are you doing? I finally got my new laptop two weeks ago.
I definately like that kind of mellow "not so loud" music I took on the winter tape. But it was also the mood for the theme. There are also some faster or louder songs I like. It depends on my own mood and can change daily. Last week I recorded an extended version of my "Love Story Mix" for another mixtape forum contest. The next one might rather be a "Girls versus Boys" tape with one side just female vocals and the other side only male or it might be a "Colours"-Mix. But I don't know. What about you, did you mix any playlists on the last time?

Nah, i'm definately not studying ever again. I don't know how it is where you are, but in australia a degree can get you into a lot of different kinds of jobs. It doesn't really matter what your degree is. They just want to know that you studied. It's silly i know, but it works in my favour. ;)
I don't know what i'm going to do yet excatly, but i have a few ideas. I'm planning on travelling after i graduate. I haven't really thought much about what i'm going to do after that. I don't like to plan too far ahead.

Well when I was at school I never listened to radio. But radio in Saxonia was just terrible at all. But when I came to Postdam for university I realized that radio is a real good medium. There were two channels which played good music and not only the current charts in hot rotation. Even the presenters and the shows very really nice. That time I listened to radio quite often and got to know much new music. But I don't think there's such a good radio program in Munich. You'll get the tape the next days!

Yes, lessons were quite boring but just because I already worked with the data program and so there was not much new for me. Well, working with computer and databases is a big part of my job. That was one reason why many librarian program students break up university because they didn't expect that it means so many computer lessons. But I have to say, I didn't like that lessons in high school, too.

Holidays, sounds nice what is that? ;-) Well, next week will be much work but in november I can take 2 or 3 weeks off before I start the new job. it was just a week of non-stop non-stopping. work all day, play all night and play and play and play...i woke up looking like nosferatu....a sign when you need to cool it. so i played nice this week and now, oh NOW, my friend is having an oktoberfest party tonight, tomorrow is an arts festival under the Brooklyn Bridge and SUNDAY is the Atlantic Antic- which is just an excuse for people to eat, drink and listen to live music in the street. It happens once a year. It' a nice way to end the summer in NYC!!! I'll take pics!

I just have to write the time between 21 and 25 (and when she's between 25 and 30 but there's not much happening that time, the end is already written because I started with that story). Ja känner det. Jag maste ofta arbeta pa lördags. Men inte den här helgen! Det är bra när man kan sova hur länge man vill. När killen skrev "Crazy" var han bara 16 ar. Det var för mycket hype om boken pa den tiden. Jag tycker mycket om böcker om musik. Jag vet inte om jag berättade för dig att jag själv skriver en bok. Det handlar ocksa om ett musikgrupp eller bättre om livet av bandets sjungarna. Darför alskar jag att läsa andra böcker om musik som kanske inspirerar mig. Jag vet inte om jag ska publicera det ngn gang om det blir färdigt. Jag började att sriva berättelsen när jag var 17 (da ser du hur oregelbunda jag skriver, jag är ju 25 nu).

Thanks :D I got really mad when I wrote that because while my town is probably the most ethnically diverse city in the US, one of our suburbs, Rio Linda (home of the famous asshole Rush Limbaugh) is famous for being total hickville.
Aside from that, I have two really good friends who are gay but can't tell their parents. Tyler, my best friend's boyfriend, has a mom who won't let him go to the area of the city where we live because she thinks he's seeing a boy here (which he is). Meanwhile, his dad calls gay guys fags and stuff like that. The other one, Leonard, well... his family is black and, at least in this area, the black community is not exactly universally accepting of gays.
So yeah... it's kind of a big deal for me. :P

Compared to news writing you can see why everyone wants to do it hey? Gary Oldman is awesome man, i thought he did a top notch job at sirius. I imagined him a little bit different as well, if the actors do a good job i don't care. Just like Lupin, i thought he was great.
It's like with Bellatrix in the 5th. I imagined her to look heaps different but Helena Bonham Carter is just so good that it didn't matter. I'm really happy with the majority of casting in the films.

I know there are different names in some Potter translations (I knew it from the dutch version which I gave my sister to her birthday, I can't speak that language but the names were quite funny) but they used the original names at the German translation (ok, the places are not the same but similar translated. I saw the last movie in english).

Well i have a problem. I don't like hard cover books so i;ve bought the whole series in paper back. It takes ages for them to bring it out in paperback though. My sister has already pre-ordered it, but she's an incredibly slow reader.
So... I think i'm going to sneak into her room and steal it whenever she's not reading it and try and get as much in as possible. Or lock her in her room and force her to read it in one big go. I haven't decided yet.

It's very faggish and such. I just feel kind of bad.. the kid tries, but he never gets a break. :P
Anyway... it's got its perks, but you also have to remember... hags have to deal with all the drama!

I have travelled a bit. I lived in Switzerland for a year and saw quite a bit of europe in that time. Then i went back a year later to see all the places i'd missed.
You must be able to speak a few languages but. I can only speak English and German. I got by when i was italy cos i learnt italian in highschool for two years. I was supposed to be taking spanish this year at university but it didn't work out with my time table... I was very sad about that.

the calvin and hobbes comics are very special to me.
Ever been to switzerland? i lived there for a while and they have this daily little newspaper thing that they give out for free. it was a crap newspaper but it was free.
calvin and hobbes was in the comic section. every day i would read it/translate it. calvin and hobbes basically taught me German. Plus, it's one of the funniest comics i've ever read.

Well I have a lot of problems at home that I really can't deal with for the next year-and-a-half. 2 bedroom apartments around here are about 700, 800 a month, and if me and my friend save up enough money to put in a down payment, we should be able to afford it. I'm gonna have my dad cosign the lease... and we might get a 3rd person to live with us too, pretty soon, cause our friend Jenn said she was moving out when she turns 18 which is pretty soon.

I'd be very surprised though if you had heard the whitlams track. They are reasonably big in australia, but i only like their first 2 CDs from early 90s and no one really knows their early work.

sorry the mountains in the picture certainly are blue, but unfortunately they're not THE blue mountains. They look like the alps to me. The Blue Mountains are more like hills compared to those mountains.

I didn't actually go to the prom -- I wasn't allowed to, since I got expelled from the school whose prom it was (but all of my friends go to that school). I didn't get as drunk as I have gotten in the past... on a 1-10 scale it was probably a 4. That's only because my "friend" who was supposed to be helping me put the after-prom party together while I financed the whole thing totally ripped me off, invited her friends and drank everything before the people who actually went to the prom even go tthere.

More about 'The The' There is one track on www.mercora.com that you can listen to. The album you need to hear (The one with Johnny Marr on) is called 'Mind Bomb' and the name of the main guy in the band was Matt Johnson.

"The The" were another Madchester band around the same time as The Smiths. Johnny Marr worked with them for a year or so I think, but their stuff was interesting. Well i live in the Blue Mountains, which is about an hour west of sydney and it is extremely beautiful. My house backs on to the bush and i've seen many a wallabe (like a small kangaroo). You can't visit sydney without a trip to the blue mountains.
