this mix celebrates the versatility the human hands possesses as a percussion instrument. almost all these songs have real-life hand clapping, but a few feature the 808-synth hand clap sound as well. and to be honest, sometimes its very hard for me to distinguish between the two.
i was inspired to make this mix after watching Bjork's live DVD recorded at the Royal Opera House in London. they do a fantastic final performance of It's In Our Hands.

i work out (occasionally-ish) and always find it goes better when i have some music to help me along. rather fast paced mix here in the beginning, if i slow down at all ill stop completely doing cardio... while weight training, i prefer catchy songs i can focus on, instead of the burn.

im a big fan of covers, if theyre done right. there has to be a special something about the new version's vocals, instrumentation or arrangement that makes me stand up and take notice. sometimes, a cover can even supercede the original in sheer greatness. this doesnt often happen, and its a gem when you find one of these. i consider a few of these to be gems, but most are just rocking covers that almost always redefine the original on their terms.

Yeah, I've been gigging. Dr Who is on season three now and the second Doctor since it came back. The first 'new' one I didn't like, but the next one, David Tennant is great, the scripts are funny and very good. The spinoff show 'Torchwood' is really good as well. A more adult take on the whole thing. I just watched series three a day or so after each episode aired in the Uk thanks to the wonders of the net

Nothing wrong with switching directions, Bowie did it all the time, I think most artists with something to say usually find lots of different ways to say it. I actually meant I just liked the first few singles of Radiohead. It is everything after 'Creep' I lost interest with, not a fan of 'OK Computer' for instance, so I lost them long before the big change in direction. I liked Thom Yorkes solo thing actually.

Dude one of my favorite gig memories was at Lollapalooza 2005 where Brian Jonestown Massacre were playing at the same time as Dashboard Confessional, and the lead singer kept yelling insults across the park. The Dashboard guy sounded like he was about to cry. "Man, if I ever need birth control, all I have to do is put a picture of your band above my bed!" Ahhh, good times, good times.
