liner notes
Aaron Light was born in Kezar Stadium. He was kidnapped and raised by the LeBeau Clan Thieves Guild, and given to the Antiquary as a tribute.
They referred to the child as "le diable blanc" ("the blank devil") and believed he was prophesied to unite the warring Thieves and Assassins Guilds. Soon after, Aaron was placed in the care of Fagan's Mob, a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery. After living as an orphan on Haight Street, a 10 year-old Aaron attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, then patriarch of the Thieves Guild. Jean-Luc took the boy off the streets and adopted him into his own family. To be continued...

An ode to the most batshit insane nutcase of a girl I have ever met.
The cover art thing wasn't working, but it was supposed to be a photo I have of Kit peeing on a cop car.

It's that time again.
A few of the transitions are a little rough, but I guess that's inevitable with a Potpourri mix. Anyway, dig in.

San Francisco can be kind of a depressing place, but I mean that in the best way possible. It's always foggy, except for when it rains (in the winter) and the few days that the sun shines (in spring and a small part of fall). In fact, the sun doesn't even suit the city. To me, SF feels disingenuous when the weather is nice, like it's trying to be something it isn't. It's only when the city is gray (and wet) that it really feels like home. In this way it is able to create the most beautiful kind of depression possible.
This mix was inspired by the walks that I like to take around town on winter days when the rain is falling and I can just wallow in self-pity and enjoy the city. Yay!

Ms. Hansen (aka She Who Must Not Be Named) is the evil harlot who seized control of my high school last year.
Her reign of terror is seemingly limitless. Not only has she been getting on the cases of some of my favorite teachers, but she canceled German 1 (which I was planning on taking next year) and is trying her best to fuck over Journalism (of which I am both an ardent supporter and reporter. IS NOTHING SACRED???
It is because of these reasons--and many more--that I have made the recently dubbed "Ms. Hansen Sux" mixxx. Originally a whole shit-ton of songs and 80 minutes long, I decided it would be more effective if it was shorter. Thus, I present it to you in its most recent, and hopefully final, form of 11 songs in 36 minutes.
Dig it.

This is probably the weirdest mix I have ever made. I seriously have no idea what this is.

I'm only 15. Although I was alive in the early '90s, I didn't really become full aware of the music in my surroundings until around 2001 or so. No matter how much I may love '90s music, my true beginnings lie in the past seven years. Because of this, I would feel disingenuous if I didn't choose to pay homage to my past, and the years that sowed the seeds of music in me.
Also, my cover art was supposed to be a really rad picture of some fireworks, but for some reason every time I upload the picture and crop it, it refuses to show up. Oh well. Just visualize fireworks, and enjoy!

Ok, so my school starts at 7:30 in the morning. Because public transportation is notoriously shitty, I have to wake up at 6:00 so as to catch an early, definite train. Not only that, but I'm surrounded by bloody yuppies yacking away on their Blackberrys for the whole ride (Why do I always have to feel like I'm living out American Psycho?!). I'm not really as bitter about the whole thing as I sound (even though I have to be outta the house before the sun is even up), it's just not the ideal situation.
This mix is for those days, when I'm racing around the house in the dark, getting my bearings together, only to have the train screw me over, just so I can rush over to a school that isn't even that fun.
Tracks 1 - 7: Getting ready to leave the house.
Tracks 8 - 16: Walking to the train-stop / riding the train.
Tracks 17 - 23: Getting off the train and walking the final stretch to my first class.
Sorry for the rant, and enjoy!

There wasn't any great inspiration for this mixtape. I just felt like entering the contest.
I bet that this is the only mix on the site to feature both Boris and Belle & Sebastian.

This mix was basically inspired by some of the mixes that have been floating around the site: long songs.
Every song on this mix is over 10 minutes in length.

These songs are insane. Either that or bizarre. Or just plain badass. Sometimes all three.
In any case, it'll fry your brain.

This is kind of a sequel to my "Melancholy Mix," although I feel that this one is a bit sadder.
Some of these songs are associated with bad memories, but most are just very good at evoking strong feelings in me.
Overall, these are just awe-inspiringly beautiful songs to me.

My entry to the newest contest.
The point of this was just essentially songs that seemed monstrous to me. Some are epic, some are scary, some are bizarre, and some may even be about monsters already.
I also made this because monsters pwn robots. Deal with it.

Although this mix is kinda sorta all over the map, it's main focus is more melancholy. Still, there are a few other vibes going on at the same time.
This is an earlier mix of mine that I recently unearthed from my computer, so I'm wondering how it holds up.

As some of you may have guessed, this is a continuation of my earlier mix, "World Domination (Part 1)." The premise of this mix is a concept album, using other people's work instead of my own. If you want to know the whole story go back and find my earlier mix. It is there in detail.
Anyway, it's a three-act structure, not unlike a movie, and this is the third act. This is the part after the explosion where the protagonist goes back above ground to survey the damage. When he realizes what he's done he kills himself.
So... this was supposed to be a quieter, sadder mix. The man is basically surveying a wasteland of what the Earth once was. I hope this comes across when you listen.

This started out as a trip-hop mix, but became something else when I realized I didn't have enough of that particular genre on my computer. Instead it has branched into a variety of other, similar kinds of music, while still keeping the desired mood.
I suppose the purpose of this mix is to have something pretty tripped-out to play in the background while you chill, but that's just how I use it.

Alright, so this whole mixtape is based on a concept I came up with one day. It's the equivalent of a concept album, just using other people's music in place of one's own.
The story goes like this:
The protagonist (make your own name for him) starts to feel a bit paranoid and uneasy with the world around him. His girlfriend soon leaves him and he gets fired. Through some strange bizarre circumstance (make up your own in your head) he makes a bomb or disease, or something, that can kill everyone on the face of the Earth. After a little deliberation, he goes to his secret lair (where he's safe) and he unleashes his monstrosity upon the world.
This is part 1 of the mix. This disc ends with the explosion. Part 2, which will be up shortly, picks up where this leaves off. He goes up, realizes what he's done, and kills himself. This first disc is supposed to be more bombastic, while the other one is quieter and more contemplative.
Enjoy!
