liner notes
For instance, spoken Australian English is generally more tolerant of offensive and/or abusive language than other variants. Many politicians are exponents of this style in Parliament. Former Labor Prime Minister Paul Keating called opponents "mangy maggot" and "stupid foul-mouthed grub". Mark Latham, a former Labor Leader of The Opposition referred to Prime Minister John Howard as an "arse licker" and described a visit to see US President George W. Bush as "a conga line of suckholes" heading to Washington. Liberal Health Minister Tony Abbott called an opponent a "snivelling grub".
Did you know there's a band called Bathtub Shitter. I just found out the other day, and now everytime I think of their name I can't stop laughing.

I hate to say it, but secretly I desire to be liked by everyone. I don't really care who with, I just want them to like me. Now this isn't as simple as it may seem, it's a fine art. Fortunately music often makes an impression on people. This is where it gets easier to me, I pride myself on always being able to pick suitable music for whatever situation. (Not to mention this is on cassette, which is really cool and old school, everyone digs retro.) This situation is the party, with lots of semi-drunk kids from school. This is how I make them like me.
If you ever wondered what it was like to be a kid in the modern generation trying to fit with the in crowd, hopefully this tape will give some insight into what it's like.
Note: The cover art is a picture from Myspace of two of the kids who partially inspired this tape. Chris and Lauren. They're my friends and they're pretty cool. Please don't tell them I put their photo on here.
Note two: This mix kinda proves I'm actually an arsehole, and a self-absorbed one at that. Sorry about that.

Remember Michael Jackson's thriller video? Of course you do, it's a classic! Remember those zombie guys who rose from the earth? "Yeah, whatever happened to those guys anyway?" Well, I was wondering the same thing so I decided to lodge this investigative report.
It turns out they're just like any other zombie actors. They eat the flesh of the livng (when possible, edible people can be hard to find), they walk the streets looking for work (if you're interested, do contact their agents) and of course they all reside in the murky depths of hell.
Times have been hard for hell's zombie actors though. Since the 80's there has been a dramatic drop in movies and music videos starring zombies. They've been able to find some roles sporadicly, like in Shaun of the Dead, and a few old remakes, but apart from that it seems like there's no room in Hollywood. A badge was made on the mixtape collective starring Michael Jackson from the Thriller video, which is a shame. Everyone knows it just wouldn't be the same video without the awesome zombie supporting cast.
Hell is also facing many economic problems. There is practically no export industry due to the obvious hardship of transporting products to the mortal realm. The population just keeps rising too, leading to even more problems. Did you know Hell has a higher unemployment rate than any other place on, or in Earth? With somewhere as muilticultural as Hell, there are also many problems associated with racism.
That said, Hell manages to retain optimistic despite mounting economic insecurity. Hell's citizens work hard, in almost unbearable conditions, but none of that seems to matter when the weekend comes. The parties in Hell are like nothing you've seen on the surface of Earth. They stay up all night drinking, dancing, and having more fun than us mere mortals know how. This mixtape is designed to represent a small slice of the disco culture in hell.

This is in some ways the opposite to the last mix. That was gloomy and electronicy, this one features a much lighter mood, and an emphasis on real instrumentation, specifically acoustics. The sound is laid-back, and unmistakebly summery.
I also tried to contain a Brazillian theme, I think around half the tracks contain bossa rhythms which always reminds me of fun times in the Brazillian summer, etc. Lots of 60's Pop is included. To me this music is synonomous with feelings of summer happiness. Also I used some of the current crop of hip-hop influenced electronic type folk producers.
It is titled 'Bahian Summer Plus Other Pop Favourites'. The two actual Brazillian acts on this mix were both from the Bahia region, a region lauded by people such as John Coltrane and so many more I can't think of right now as a great place for music. The Bahian Summer part is also a reference to the Beach Boys' Endless Summer compilation. I added Plus Other Pop Favourties, because just leaving the first part wouldn't be such an honest representation of the mix. The Other Pop Favourites part also serves as a reference to those compilations put out in the 60's and 70's.
This tape features music from lots of different places, in five different languages: English, Portuguese, French, Korean and Japanese. Lots of different regional flavours here, but over the same feel.
The cover is a cartoonish type image I found on google of the beach I live not too far from. It makes it look a lot cooler than it is.
Anyway, that's probably enough from me. It's summer here, so I'm gonna go and actually make this tape, then head to the beach with a boom box. I hope you like it.

I'd like to present to you all my first mixtape. These songs are all similar of mood, but different of style. For the most part the mood is downbeat, verging on miserable. Style-wise we've got some Indie-sulk favourites, Electropop, Weird shit + Sci-fi movie scores. Hooray. It's titled 'The Robert Moog Blues,' after the legendary Robert Moog (R.I.P), who invented the Moog synthesizer, an instrument I tried to maintain focus on throughout the mix. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
