Happy Halloween 2007! In celebration of this event, here is a recipe to make your very own candy corn:
Combine 1 cup of razor blades, 2 cups of clown tears and 3/4 tablespoon spider eggs in a pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat and add 2 cups hemlock and 3 ounces of fish oil. Stir until cool enough to handle. Shape and distribute.

This is a selection of songs which have been played on my favourite radio station between spring 2003 and spring 2005. And it is music of a special period of my life: The second half of my studies in Potsdam. It was a very excting time full of parties, concerts, movies, old friends, new friends, love, music, internet, lectures, papers prsentations, flatmates...

I made this mixtape for one of my best friends, her name is Suzanne. I once listened to a 60s music cd collection and there were at least 3 songs with her name/nickname on it. Later I listened to another song and thougth of making a mix. When I think of all the songs I found on the web I could have made a cd box set. Well, I thought one mix is enough and so I started to record from my own cd collection and by downloading. It's a mix of classic rock'n'roll songs, love songs and also some jokes.

I join this contest with a tape I already put together some years ago. I hope that's not against the rules. The mix is not about one single trip but about a whole series of roadtrips from 2000 to 2002. The first years at university. I had a neighbour who came from the same region and we drove together to our parents in his car almost twice a months at the weekends. I had a crush on him but I never told him because I didn't really want to be with him (he had already told me about his girlfriend at the destination and a lover at the other destination, so I knew how he treated girls, well, otherwise he was the nicest guy ever). Whatever, I don't care about him anymore but I will never forget those trips. It is funny how to get to know people just driving in a car together some hours frequently. We talked about everything! One big topic was music and so I made this mix with music we listened to on that roadtrips.

There's music from many different countries in my cd collection. Most of the songs are in English but there are so many other nice languages on the world. So I got the idea to make this mix. I put about ten different lanuages in this mix. I chosed some of the songs just to have any song in a specific language. There are also songs by bands or singers who sing in another language than they usually do. There are at least three songs with a language mix inside, I really like it when the lyrics suddenly switch into another language.

I like those first sunny days in spring. After a cold and cloudy winter you feel easy and are in the mood for something new. I like this feeling. Even if it's not really warm outside, it's time to sit on the balcony and enjoy the bright sunshine while listening to nice music. I didn't write any comments to the songs because I chosed them all for the same reason.

I made this mixtape september 2004 after I had moved to my first own apartment (after sharing my student flat with someone else some years). I started writing my thesis and wanted to be alone that time. I also became distant to some people, so I felt a bit lonely but on the other hand I felt great that time to be independent and live my own life. First I just wanted to make a mix of current favourite music but some of the songs or parts of lyrics fit to my feelings at that time, too. Most are calm and easy (indie-) pop songs.

That sucks about your current pc difficulties. I listen to the tape at night when I find it hard to sleep, you have a very soothing and not-so-loud taste in music, really nice. :) Or it was just the mood of this particular mixtape, I don't know. Nice job anyway.
Yeah, I know Last.FM very well. It was through that site I discovered MTC, so it's not too much to say that it has really changed my life. The free radio can be a real life saver from time to time when you're in need of something new to you to listen to. I'm not actually going to the Tegan and Sara show, though, because I have a school trip to Rome then.

KAthi, I got the tape last week, and I just love it! Even though Christmas' over and there's no snow around, the songs are all really adorable. I was really excited to see Eskobar and the Wannadies on the track list, and I'm slightly obsessed with the Fountains of Wayne track on side A. Also, I was actually going to put that Raveonettes song on your mix, but you beat me to it with your winter mix, WHICH ROCKS!

I see. We have a nice station here in Denmark as well, but I don't have time to listen to radio ever, only on Sundays, and Sunday equals sports, so in between every other song you have to listen through ice hockey match scores and interviews with coaches. Bummer.

I know what you mean, but generally I think radio sucks. Too much host blathering and too many pop songs that you grow tired of easily. It's nice though to dwell on older bands. I can't say I'm more to new or old stuff, it's very blurry. As for the Radiohead album, you can just go to www.inrainbows.com and basically download it for free (if you like, you can also pay for it).

I know how it feels. A winter mix for Christmas would be fantastic, Kathi!!! I'm almost 40% through with your DK-mix.
I'm no good in introducing people to new music. It's a great feeling, no doubt, but somehow I always befriend indie pop persons who won't listen to anything pre-Franz Ferdinand, so my effort's wasted on their likes.

I was going to enter, but I ended up with a bit of a rushed mixtape which I couldn't work on further, so I gave up. I might upload it later, though, because although it doesn't grasp the crazy theme very well, I think it works a mixtape.
About the Danish music mix, I'm working on it! Sorry, I haven't dug that much in to it yet, thank you for reminding me. I have plenty o' time at the moment, actually, so it should be done soon. It could be a Christmas present, if you like.

That's so "hyggeligt". I remember back when I was a little kid, my father would rent a cabin in Sweden during Christmas time, and then we'd spend time together as a family, out in the woods surrounded by nothing but snow, snow, snoww.
I am an atheist myself, but it's true, my family has some other holidays. I don't know when they are, but I believe there was one, because of Lent, here in September or October.

I don't celebrate Christmas, but snow is still a part of the atmosphere in town around Christmas. I feel like something's missing when people skate on ice but there's no snow around them. Plus, if it has to be so darn cold in the winter, then it should at least be a pretty sight with snow every where.

O'waow, snow?? I don't think we'll have snow here in Denmark before next year. Or it'll begin snowing on the 26th of December or something like that. It never snows on Christmas Eve or the day after. That's just not doing it for the whole Christmas spirit, you know?

We had a week's Autumn break, now it's back to school. Just as you said, I will get an employee's discount AND I'll most definitely get my hands on new music that way too. I've already gotten myself really excited about it.
- I don't know the Walkabouts, but Wikipedia informs me that they are from America. And I was totally going to upload a Danish music only mix soon, that's another way of letting you in on the cool bands/artists here. I think I'll compile some of it as we speak..
And ditto on the concerts, my last one was in July when I saw Modest Mouse.

Alt går bra med jag, i dette vecka havde jag semester, men måndag börjar skolan atter. Lige nu pröver jag at finna penge till så mycka många konserter (CocoRosie, Múm, Ryan Adams och The Cure!), men det bliver "tough as hell." Jag vet inte hur jag gör det.
Nytt job lyter bra! Jag skal ochså pröver at få stilling i Fona eller andet musik shop innen jag blivar 18.

Jobbet är bra, men det är lite irriterende att det är om lördagen. F.eks. var jag til fest i går, så det är inte great att jobba næste dag. Jag skal pröva att få job i BlockBuster!
Sociale tabere är "poor people," junkies, alcoholics, pushere, unge modere etc. Gymnasiet är 3 år, men jag är i 2. år nu, så 2009 är jag færdig.
Jag känner Susanne Brögger, men inte den bok, "Creme Fraiche." Åh, jag vil ochså läsa mera klassisk litteratur, faktisk. :) - Jeg känner Benjamin Lebert, hehe, för många år tilbake läste jag "Crazy." Jag tyckade den var mycket bra, men det är længe siden. Jag kan inte huske den så vel nu. Men han var mycket ung då han skrev "Crazy," är det inte sann?

Ja, Fosters ist das bekannteste Australische Bier, aber nur Uebersee!
Australier trinken nicht Fosters, aber es ist in England sehr populaer, weil sie denken, dass sie "Australia's favourite beer" trinken. Wir finden es sehr lustig.
Es gibt eigentlich keines bekanntestes Australisches Bier. Es kommt darauf an, wo man wohnt; hier, in New South Wales z.B, trinkt man Tooheys New oder VB, aber in Victoria trinkt man Carlton Draught.

Skolan är "tough," dette är mit 2. år på gymnasie, och 2. år är altid det sværeste, tyckar alla. Det lyder "hyggeligt" med en smule semester! Faktisk så har min mor ochså lige fået en ny baby.

Jo, jag har faktisk lige læst en roman av en dansk forfatter, der hedder Benn Q. Holm. Han har skrevet en roman, der hedder Album, som handler om sociale tabere i København/Danmark fra 1970'erne til 2000. Den är faktisk mycket spændende, kanske kan man få den i tyska/svenska version ochså? De är i gang med att filmatisere den, och en av mina venner skal spilla med i den! Det är så cool. :)

Det går bra, tak. Skolen är startet, så jag har ej haft mölighet för att komme online i nogla dage.
- Jeg har inte selv albums med Eskobar, men jag liker deres musik. Bring the Action er fortfarande mit yndlingsnummer med dem. Ellers har jag inte just utforsket den svenska musikbrancen, hehe.
Jag så den nya Harry Potter film onsdag, och jag skal inte få tyckar om den. :| Jeg tyckar att skuespillet var dårligt, plus de grunde du kom med - de har kortat så mycket. Jag er fortfarande mest rasende over, att Dolores Umbridge inte fittade beskrivelsen från bokerne, slet inte.
Det var trist att du inte fik chancen för att tittar i boken. Hvornår skal du få lyssnar den som tyska audiobok?
- Jag forstår udmærket dina post uten bogstavet å, ja. No worries. :)

Jag synes inte at du skal venta med att den utkommar på audiobok, den engelska version er mycka nem og ligetil - du skal bara tænke dig om når du tittar ukendte navne. Du jobbar på ett bibliotek? Jag jobbade selv på mit skole-bibliotek i 2 år, men så startede jeg på gymnasium (high school). Jag ville stadig mægtig gerne jobba på ett bibliotek.
Jag tyckar att jag vil titta den nye Simpsons-film, och inte Harry Potter. Just nu er jeg i gang med at læse den nye Harry Potter 7, och den er mycka "exciting"!!!
Jag har fået e-mails fra dig, och sendspace funkar fint. De andre plejer inte att splitte deres mix op, nej, men jag har fået alle fyra dele uten problemer; nu mangler jeg just at unzippe dem, så får jeg lyssnar til det hele. :)

Ich liebe Zuerich! Du solltest dort gehen. Es sieht nicht wirklich WUNDERschoen aus, aber es ist noch eine tolle Stadt. Man kann viel Spass da haben.

CocoRosie er egentlig en søster-duo fra USA, men de har boet en tid i Frankrig, og de har franske sange, selvom det er mest på engelsk. Men jag ved jo inte om dit mix,, hvordan de skulle fitte derind med resten.

Det er sandt, jeg er på alder med Harry Potter! og det har jeg været hele tiden nærmest, haha. Har du set den nye film endnu? Jeg har inte haft tid til det, men jeg ved inte om jeg har lyst heller. Det skal blive dødspændende at finde ud af slutningen i den 7. bog.
Aber, så må jeg lave de samme fel som dig, tyckar du inte? :) Du er i hvert fald myckä bra til svenska, det skal blive anti-tråkigt lige meget hvad, tyckar jeg, hehe.

AWESOME. :) Swedish is not that close to Danish though, like Norwegian is. But I would probably understand it when it's written.

I love Munchen. In Las Vegas they just built a Hofbrauhaus, nearly identical to the one in Munchen. I'm going there next week for a little reminder of what fun I had.
