My name's Melanie. I just turned 17 and while it seems like I should be excited, I'm not. Nothing has changed for me. I'm still the same girl: intensely spiritual, impulsive yet rational, and caring.
I don't find myself to be perfect or altogether special. I'm just another human being with things to say and a desire to be understood.
But on to mix tapes. I make mixes when I'm happy or sad. When I have something else to do or nothing better to do at all. I make mixes for friends and lovers, enemies and strangers.
But mostly, I make them for myself. So instead of dealing with the people around me, I can plug in and let go.

I made this mix tape for a friend of mine. He's truely a great individual and sometimes, I wish there was something more to the relationship we have, but alas there is not. I don't mean in a romantic way, I just wish I understood him better. That we were more than casual aquaintances. At the moment he's on a missions trip for his church so I've taken this time to finalize everything. Anyway, this mix took me about a week to finalize and the flow is so FUN! It's mellow by my standards but I really like it and I hope he does too.
And to make sure he doesn't skip certain songs, I'm not giving him the track listing. Tricky huh? I might just refer him to this site.

This mixtape is basically about the stages we move through when we lose someone important to us by death or by choice: denial, grief, anger, and acceptance.
I came up with the idea for it because lately I've been dealing with the loss of a best friend (she wanted out of the friendship) and I thought a mixtape would be a therapeutic way of dealing with it. I hope it does the same for you.
