I drove the MINI with the dogs to Minnesota. We stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats to test the MINI land speed record. There was a 50 mph cross-wind, and it had just rained so the salt was a bit wet (and thus slightly unstable) but we hit 111 mph.

I try to avoid the outskirts of this "city" if possible. Though my office is in one of the most unflattering suburbs, so I guess I end up there on a daily basis. It's nice by my house though, loads of green trees... not all that bad. But it will be very hot here in a few days. Ick.

I think the truck/hair thing was a little off, I think it should have been a continental or maybe a skylark. The other thing I find weird is that they've only been on the island for 3 months, it feels like 100 years! What do you think about that traveler show? Jack's beard was excellent, though his Simon Cowell hair-do was a little off. It must have been way in the future to grow something like that. Though how did he get around the smog check in LA with that old 2- gallon/mile truck? Maybe in the future there is really clean air.

That was, perhaps, the best 2 hours of TV evuh! Charlie died so well. Even thought he could have escaped through the portal, he knew if he did Claire and Aaron wouldn't be rescued. He accepted death so they could live. Selfless in the end. Well done, Charlie Pace.
And the flash forward... brilliant. Exceeded my expectations.
Shit is gonna go down in season 4. Widmore Corp. is coming... and the island is in for a fight.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I am really into LOST right now. They've started answering questions. It makes me think, and makes me want to do research into philosophy and things like that. I clear out my schedule Wednesday nights because TiVo failed me one time, so I don't take any chances. I am consumed with the plot lines. But then I don't really watch anything else.

Not very funny I guess. I am from Minnesota the Land of 10,000 Lakes (15,000 really). You can't throw a stone without hitting a lake. Here there are wide points in mountain streams and you call them a lake. You know your LA Lakers: doesn't that name seem a bit silly -- there are no lakes in LA. They used to be the Minneapolis Lakers and Minneapolis means the City of Lakes.

The Pink Panther (1963) was filmed in wonderful technicolor. At the end is a costume ball, where you might get some good ideas. I love that movie and I used to throw formal cocktail parties in an attempt capture some of the magic I saw in the ones in the film.

I just figured out the reason I never read CITR:
My mom told me about the book when I was young and she had a few of the characters mixed up. She told me it was about this teenager who was a slob and was always picking his acne. I think she confused Holden with his neighbor in the dorm. Anyway, I was (still am?) a nerd and had a hard enough time in high school and didn't need to read about some goddamn other kid's problems. Especially a disgusting kid. I'm glad that's all cleared up now.

Some of what Dog Whisperer does is right on. For instance that little finger bite he does, and saying "shh!" when the dog is doing something bad. In the dog class I had Pipa in they told us to make up a "bad dog name". I could never yell it in public without embarrassment. Other people had stupid bad names like "Macaroni." Can you imagine me running agound the park yelling something like macaroni every time my dog lunged at a squirrel or duck? "Shh" is 100x better.

The Dog Whisperer was/is my favorite show on tv, but I don't have tv anymore, but when I go home to parents you better believe the tivo is at work. I'm not around the dogs enough to teach them anything anyways, because I'm kind of a fill in mother when my friend is out of town (which is often).

And in regards to dogs and quark, they're both pretty annoying. I took one for a walk, because the other two are challenged in the outside etiquette. And InDesign is so much better, but no one seems to dig InDesign in my department, plus the company is 30 years old. It's like beating a dead horse, talking to a brick wall, you know.

Usually I try to avoid actually working, which is editing quark files and mocking shit up all day, by being on here as much as possible. I've been slacking lately, ditched out on two contests (I think). The new one is being done right now. It's so beautiful outside and the park is so close and I have 3 dogs that want to go for a walk, but I'd rather stay in a make a mix about robots.

That book is forever under my bed, next to my bed, or serving as a coaster. It's definitely the best of the high school reads, even better than 1984, which is kind of overrated sometimes. I think.

The Ginger Man is one of the finest pieces of writing of the 20th century. It is a fine choice. Sebastian Dangerfield is, perhaps, the biggest scoundrel in literature, yet he keeps you turning the pages.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those books. Each one is, on some level, a critical portrait of how a traveller's incomprehension of a foreign culture leads to the ultimate destruction of that culture.
