I sent this tape to Denmark a little while ago as part of a tape trading club. I figured I would make a springtime mix since we in Chicago were finally crawling out of the cave of winter. Spring is quite brisk here to say the least, so the songs are a mixture of happy and bittersweet.

So, for the Time Travel contest I'm actually forsaking the middle/high school route (we'll save that for later: Fiona Apple eat yr heart out) in favor of a much more painful time - COLLEGE. Why? Because it's a little closer to the person I am now, so it's not so far back in the past that I can actually laugh from an ironic distance. Ouch. Luckily enough, now I'm a little more mature, less depressed, and better employed (wait, scratch that last one).

Here's to indie rock, college radio, seasonal affective disorder, and my adventures in Ohio, Oregon, and Ohio again from 1999-2003.

May as well continue with the mouth/voice theme I've started. Last in the trilogy will be a mix inspired by a bilingual prayer candle I found that you can use to ward off gossips and haters of all kinds. This mix ended up being a bit top-40 heavy for some reason, but I think it'll work. Light up, say your prayer, and enjoy.

All about voice! This mix focuses on artists with strange and interesting voices and vocal styles. Some tracks were chosen because of the singer's unique vocal timbre, others because of the use of natural or digital vocal effects like throat singing, falsetto, sampling, hardcore screaming, and pitch shifting.
