description:
A brief respite from my hectic life. This takes on a decidedly old-school flair, with some newish ones thrown in there. I finally had some time to sit back, relax, and reflect a little, and this mix, I hope, carries that kind of mood.

The picture is of my absolute favorite statue in the French Quarter here in New Orleans. It's literally hidden down a random alley, seemingly not caring whether anyone looks at it or not. When you happen upon it, you kind of have to do a double take. It's great.

10 Neil Young : Tell Me Why
I once had a roommate that almost ruined Neil Young for me. He was such a douchebag, and pretty much the only music he liked was Neil Young, that I equated Neil Young with douchebaggery for a long time. I've come to finally separate the two again.

That Neil Young room mate thing has been around as long as Mr Young itself. There was a guy at college back in 78 who was so obsessed, which of the fifteen bootleg versions of 'Down By The River" did I like the best, etc. Don't agree with Sledg on 5, great song. The fact this ends with Ooh La La makes me feel happy

I've had exactly the same experience with Neil Young! Something tells me enough time has passed that I might perhaps be able to enjoy his music if I tried it now, but I've avoided him for a long time now for just such reason.

Could do without 2,4,5 personally, but the rest of it is exceptionally exceptional. YES! Dig the notes for the songs. Anyone who ruins Neil Young for someone else should get their speakers taken away.
