This mix, inspired by Mr. Schrute, is a mix of power songs that I imagine Dwight would probably listen to in order to pump himself up... especially a few towards the end.. because you KNOW Dwight listens to Dragonforce.. I mean, seriously, can you imagine Dwight NOT liking Dragonforce? Impossible, I tell you.

Description: I haven't been snowboarding in quite awhile, though back in high school and early college I used to go all the time. I've made many mixes over the years to listen to while I ride, and this is for the most part a combination of my favorites from all of them..

Most of these songs come from snowboarding videos or video games, which is why I associated them with snowboarding and put them on the mix in the first place.. they have a certain feel to them for me that gets me going on the mountain..

I know it's technically moving out of the snowboarding season for most people right now.. here in Oregon we've got it year-round, so this mix worked anytime for me.. I've had some pretty awesome summer sessions up on Mt. Hood with this music pumping through my headphones... it always seems best enjoyed on a sunny afternoon.. and those days when you can cruise around in a T-Shirt can never be beat.

Description: This is a fantastic collection of amazing covers of Bowie songs. I had a lot of fun putting this one together, and foundd a ton of cool Bowie covers (on top of all the ones I already had.. seems a lot of bands like Bowie!).. and a ton of not-so-cool covers, but those got eliminated. What is left here is the best of the best, a nearly full mixtape of awesome Bowie covers! What more could you want!?

Description: ive been getting back into running lately (haven't done much of it since cross country in high school more than 5 years ago). this is a mix of songs to listen to while running that get me amped up and make me feel like running fast. some are better for just cruising on some trails, some are for darting around people running quickly on city streets.. but all of them get me in the zzzzone!

I started just throwing any bands in there that were related to one another, but then I had WAY too many, so I decided to go with a path of direct relation from start to finish.. or how Benjamin Weikel of The Helio Sequence knows Spencer Seim of The Advantage.

Description: Great songs from some of my favorite hip hop artists.. Inspired by the RJD2 track "F.H.H." that finishes this mix off, this is a shot at the sorry state of hip hop today.. ryhming words by extending the suffix or just adding urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, the cash, money, hos flying around in all the videos, etc.. all you see nowadays is shit.

You'd be hard pressed to find any these artists sporting gold teef, spinning rims and 50 lbs of bling.

Description: This is a mix meant to be given to a girl (or guy) that holds your interest.

The purpose of a mix like this is not to send 'hidden messages' to a person. That can be generally annoying.. it is not meant to say 'hey, look at me, I want you and I'm trying desperately to tell you that without having to actually tell you that'.. it doesn't work that way. Thats too overt, obvious, strong, and desperate. It is meant to slip youself effortlessly (well, it took ME effort to make this) into someone's mind.. to establish a cornerstone, build a base to work from.

Unless, of course you already have the girl, then all this thought and planning is pointless and you may as well throw whatever you want on there. Or if they're a pretentious bitch. Then they'll probably hate this, and you for making it. In which case she's no good for you anyways. Or too good for you depending on how you look at it.

Description: Here is the long awaited Side A for my Lazy Summer Chill Mix. Meant to fit on one side of a 90 minute cassette tape, this side is the upbeat, not-so-lazy precursor to the more mellow, laid-back chill-ness of Side B.

This side would go well (much like side b) with a long drive on an empty rural highway on a hot summer day.. or even just cruising around town. Or hanging out at a big red barn with a nice, cold beer in your hand and a couple good friends.
