FUCK THE CLASS OF 2001
2663 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 1/29/08 10:23pm
Description: Despite being raised on the ultra-solid musical tastes of my parents, I dabbled in some fairly questionable musical material in my highschool years. While it is a bit embarrassing, I do find it necessary to remember one's roots, for better or worse.

In other words, keep it real, y'allz.
A DIVERSION
2814 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 7/1/07 10:44pm
Description: This is my diversion from writing page after page of PHP for 2.0.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
2624 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 4/20/07 9:10pm
Description: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER:
It all started with an innocent post to the local craigslist. Two summers ago, I was living in portland. I was single. I was lonely.

One night thursday night, all alone, I browsed through the 'Missed connections' section of the local craigslist personals -- this is where you can find some of the *weirdest* shit. I read through a few, nothing interesting, until I saw this: 'HANDSOME SOFTWARE DEVELOPER -- w4m -- 23'

The body read 'You: in the coffee shop inside Borders, yelling and throwing Splenda packets at some girl who mispronounced 'Ayn Rand' while talking to her date. Me: At the counter, buying 'Tantric Sex for Dummies,' a book on cooking, an AWK pocket-reference book and a book which detailed how much fun could be had with black powder. Also, I with 99 of my supermodel friends.

PS - 13 of them are from Brazil.'

Since I was yelling and throwing things (I was using mugs, not Splenda packets) at that sadly misinformed pseudo-intellectual type for butchering my favourite socialist's name, I thought I'd respond. . .
A Morning with Eric
2703 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 1/22/07 7:45pm
Description: I despise mornings. Now that I'm not a lazy college kid, I actually have to get up at a reasonable hour and go somewhere to (hopefully) be productive. It's especially hard for me because sleep is like a glorious love affair with my bed and every morning, without fail, she attempts to seduce me to get back inside. A good soundtrack is my sleep-salt-peter.

Track 01 - 07: wake up.
Track 08 - 09: shower time.
Track 10 - 16: drive.

I know it's not the most cohesive mix, but it's got a lot of personal highlights from lesser mixes.
Songs for kissing girls
3137 points (Level 7)
Date Created: 11/19/06 8:30pm
Description: At first, I simply sifted through my collection, picking and choosing my tracks, attempting to make a cream-of-the-crop makeout-mixtape. Once it was compiled and listened to a few times, something different began to emerge -- For each track, I found myself reminded of a particular place, time and girl in the past few years or so.

So, here it is: a mini lovelife retrospective soundtrack.
Introductions, Part II
3312 points (Level 7)
Date Created: 11/9/06 10:54pm
Description: Setting the tone for what is yet to come, the opening track is among the most important ones. Thusly, I had the inspiration to pick through my collection and select a few of my favourite album-openers.

The album opens with a barrage but quickly mellows down, leading way to a few songs dropped on me as a child.

Part II of III.
Connections
2916 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 10/29/06 9:50pm
Description: Music trivia sticks in my head like pubic hair to Velcro. I started this mix on paper, trying to flex my musical knowledge as hard as possible, but soon realized that as a mix, it sucked. Thusly, I wadded the paper up and started again.

My second try, the theme: a listenable mix that connects two *very* unrelated artists.

Enjoi!
Dear Eric
3526 points (Level 8)
Date Created: 9/11/06 5:34pm
Description: Dearest College-freshman Eric,
What lies ahead for you on this mix is a gift from 5 years in the future. It represents a few highlights of your personal soundtrack from particular moments in time during your 5-year-stint in college. If that makes any sense.

For you all: a peek into the audiobiography of Eric. In pseudo no-related-order.
Wordless: Volume I
3206 points (Level 7)
Date Created: 8/7/06 12:01am
Description: Installment one of my 'Wordless' franchise, this is a carefully thought out mix of a few of my favourite instrumental or otherwise wordless songs.

The first half is mellow and subdued [tracks 1-7]
The last half (see also: ass-end) is not mellow or subdued [tracks 8-15]

I spent a fair amount of time carefully arranging, removing and adding tracks to get the best possible flow I could. I think she turned out just dandy.
Haphazard Precision
2932 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 7/26/06 11:24pm
Description: A experimental study in connect-the-songs mixtaping. While the flow of the actual music may be a bit lacking in cohesiveness, the song titles are where the real magic lies.

Salt on everything is everything means nothing to me the new you devil you go girl / boy song 3 little birdsong for my father my king.
Spring Showers
2837 points (Level 6)
Date Created: 6/4/06 2:27pm
Description: A mix for spring: the sudden showers and odd, seemingly misplaced bursts of the most glorious sunlight. Just long enough music to get me to campus, between buildings and back home again.
Songs my mother will never understand
5303 points (Level 10)
Date Created: 5/25/06 9:08pm
Description: I'm always trying to get my mom into 'hip' music, but she's pretty picky. Actually, she's super-duper picky, thus my need to make this mix.

I present to you, a compilation of songs that I adore, yet my mother will never understand.
Introductions, Part I
3346 points (Level 7)
Date Created: 5/20/06 1:12pm
Description: Setting the tone for what is yet to come, the opening track is among the most important ones. Thusly, I had the inspiration to pick through my collection and select a few of my favourite album-openers.

Part I of III.
Lowkey Livin'
4051 points (Level 9)
Date Created: 5/12/06 3:58pm
Description: My (wonderful / beautiful) girlfriend was begging me for a low-key mix she could listen to when she was working mornings a few months back. After mixing up some of my favourite songs, I gave it to her.

It must have been pretty good, as I ended up having to make three new copies for her -- her coworkers kept stealing it.

...And that's the best mixtaping compliment I've ever received.
