description:
Humanity loves playing god, and what's closer to godliness than creating?
Robots are a direct product of our own work, which is why we love them and discipline them as a parent would a rebellious child. I identify more with robots because in both their being and mythology, they do all that we do: raise up, bring down, make love, make hate, dance, sing, and gather together. They are made in our image. They serve and obey us. What have monsters done for you lately?
I am robot. I am android. I am an automaton. I am a mobile, working, mechanic dream. I only work and live to progress. I strive to create, change, and please. I surpass even my wildest expectations. I grow. I destroy. I terrify.
Love,
The Transformers, Tobor, Rodney, Inspector Gadget, r2-d2, c3po, Maximillian, T-1000, Maria of Metropolis, The Cylons, Robby, Mechagodzilla, Bishop, Johnny5, Megaman, Mechani-Kong, Daft Punk, Gort, DavidAI, Astroboy, Rosie Jetson, Asimo,
...and the rest of the robotic collective.

For any of you that have never seen this film (or any other film by Wong-kar Wai for that matter), know that your cinematic appetite will never have been fulfilled by not doing so. I'm not going to lie, seeing Faye Wong portray the most beautiful android I've ever seen did play a huge role in my decision to see this movie (http://i5.photobucket.com /albums/y169/siobahnit/fayewong.jpg). So my first argument lies in that robots may posess flawless beauty, whereas monsters cannot. The organic freedom of this piece also serves as the best parallel to a world which seems austere and lonely, so far in the future.

| 2 | Kraftwerk : The Robots |
|
A little introduction, if you will. Hearing robotic voices in music, electronic or otherwise, always reminds me of my love for things that transcend what is "natural." Before the classical era, C.P.E. Bach wrote a fantasia which contained no bar lines, extensive melismas, and free meter. He was sternly judged for his desire to write music outside of what was "simple" and "natural." The newness and difference of his music was a landmark in defamiliarisation - something I appreciate whenever I listen to music.

| 6 | Daft Punk : Robot Rock |
|
To be honest, this entire album encompasses everything that my message is about. Everything is in some way, "human after all/flesh uncovered after all." But this particular song just kicks some major fucking arse, not to mention sampling one of the best guitar riffs of all time from Breakwater. I believe MURS also once sampled this very riff. Music by robots for robots. Robot rock the fuck on.

| 8 | Deltron 3030 : Positive Contact |

Nobody turns down a little positive contact. This song is like a robotic mantra. Limitless and amazing in its comprehensive message! Another point that in a hypothetical situation where the "record skips," a robot could still continue to bring the music.

Now you know the real pain of robots! How they yearn to be like us. A great writer once wrote: "We talk to our babies as if they already understand. So, they come to understand. We treat our pets as if they are human. And in the end, they dream human dreams." Be kind to robots.
